Finding the right medical specialist is very important. Only an HIV specialist can assess the progression of the HIV infection and select the right medication at the right time.
Your treatment team
To ensure that your treatment runs smoothly, you should feel that you are in good hands with your healthcare professional. If you do not have a good feeling about this, do not hesitate to speak to them or look for a new medical specialist. In hospitals, you are often also looked after by nursing staff, who can fulfil an important relationship function.
If necessary, ask for psychological counselling.
